GENERAL INFO

 

This page is intended to answer questions and provide information regarding not only our policies and procedures, but also to provide general info regarding the care of your parrot.

1. Age of your Parrot

Our birds are sold at approximately 6 weeks of age, still being handfed, or, for an extra charge, weaned. We strongly encourage our customers to wean their bird. The actual age of shipping, in either case, is specific both to species, and the individual bird. Feather Friendzy reserves the right to determine the appropriate age to ship your bird. We do not sell eggs, nor do we typically sell "out of the nest".

2. Shipping

We ship via airline counter to counter methods, or, when possible, cargo. Hot weather prevents us in many cases from saving some cost and shipping cargo. Shipping costs are a pass-through, i.e. we do not mark up what the airline charges us. Shipping costs are estimated, and we refund any difference after the bird is shipped.  We do not ship via the US Postal System, and we DO NOT SHIP outside of the continental United States.

If you live in Florida, we can usually arrange delivery direct to your home, or at minimum, a meeting at a point within reasonable driving distance for both parties. 

Due to security and health reasons, we do not allow customers to visit the breeding farm, or to pick up birds on-site. We simply are not equipped to handle this kind of traffic, for a variety of reasons. 

3. Payment

Payment may be in the form of personal check, money order, credit card (Visa and Mastercard), Paypal, or bank transfer.

We require a 50% deposit to hold a bird prior to shipping. We require that deposit to be in our possession within 48 hours of us notifying you that your baby has hatched. We strongly encourage using any one of the many overnight or priority mail methods, or a credit card.

Please note: whether we are weaning the baby for you, or you are taking it at a younger age and weaning it yourself, the deposit is 50%. Unless you are a very established customer, this is non-negotiable.

We are required to collect Florida state sales tax on in-state purchases unless you have a resale certificate.

Deposits are non-refundable. They may be made in the form of credit card, money order, cashier's check, Western Union, or personal check. In the case of personal checks, we require 10-14 days for them to clear, so final payment prior to shipping is best sent as some sort of certified funds. 

4. Health Guarantee

We strongly encourage you to have your bird checked by a qualified avian veterinarian within 48 hours of receipt of your bird. Our health guarantee, which covers polyoma, psittacosis, and PBFD, along with any other life threatening illness/defect, is only valid when the bird has been examined within the 48 hour window after receipt. We cannot be responsible for birds that are checked after the first 48 hours have passed.
